Today we spent most of the day running errands trying to get ready to be out of the country for a year and a half. We went for our 6 month teeth cleaning. We both asked our hygienists to do an extra good job, as it will be a while before we can get back. We each had a small cavity. Normally we would have to schedule another appointment for each of us, but there were two openings about two hours later, so we were able to have all of our dental work finished up today.
During the time between our dental appointments we decided that, since we were in the neighborhood of the urgent care facility where we normally get our travel immunizations, we would get caught up on our shots. I have traveled out of the country more recently than Cindy, so I only needed to update my Typhoid and Tetanus shots. Cindy got those as well as a Polio booster and the first round of Hepatitis B. She will get one more round before we leave, then the final dose will have to be administered in Congo.
As a final errand, we stopped into the DMV. Both of our driver's licenses expire in 2010 after we leave. It turns out that we cannot renew our licenses until the expiration is within 6 months. That means that Cindy will be able to renew hers next month, but I will have to wait until July and pray that I can do it with the online service. We will see. If it doesn't work then my license will expire Dec 2010 and I will have to go through a bunch of hassles in Sept 2011 when I return to the US. I am sure that everything will work out ok.
