Anyone who knows the menu here at MPH will understand the title to this post. for those of you who are not "in the know", let me clarify a bit. There is a weekly menu that doesn't change, so what you eat on Monday this week will be repeated next week. All lunches are served with rice and greens and some meat sauce or beans. Tuesday night is hamburger night so, this being our 5th Tuesday, this will be our fifth hamburger. I am not complaining, I like the hamburgers. Two weeks ago, we were the only ones at supper, so the cook sliced some cheese for us. Treat! The food is well prepared and good tasting. We are working on a secondary menu to alternate weekly. Radicals! We also have been invited to friends homes for a change of pace too. Maybe they will read this and refrain from serving us rice. If not, we are still blessed by their food, hospitality and friendship.
As a variation, we will occasionally request a sack lunch which is a sandwich. This past week, we were the only ones eating lunch so we requested grilled cheese sandwiches. They were very good. Now we work on portion control or I will be 250 lbs in 18 months. 5 sandwiches for two people is a bit much...but I couldn't hurt the cook's feelings so I ate three! Then took a nap!
We are settling in here. Our minibus was delivered on Saturday. Now pray for our courage to drive it here. Inge drove us up to the gas station to put fuel in it, and we have moved it back and forth around the MPH compound. I don't have the nerve to take on the defensive driving yet, so we will be meeting our driver tomorrow and discussing his responsibilities. It will be good to have someone stay with the vehicle while we are making purchases anyway. But I suppose we will begin inviting our guests to attend church with us, so we will begin an MPH-IPCK shuttle service as guest relations. God is so good to provide the vehicle so I will trust Him to provide the safety, skill and nerves to use it for His glory.
I thought I was going to have to go turn off the generator, but the city electric just came back on. Thank you, Lord! Our guests can have fans tonight. (Oh, yeah and we can have AC!) I really was thinking of the guests first, our comfort is a bonus. Still it is time for bed.
Bonne nuit.
